I guess I’m behind on my blog posts again! lol!!
I’ve just finished updating the BlogTactics Plugins Page, there’s now 24 plugins listed in total.
These are the plugins that I use most often on all my different blogs, but here’s the one’s (in no particular order) that I think are most useful/important: -
1. The “BlogTactics NoFollow” plugin.
I had this made for me to allow me to easily add the “nofollow” tag to blogroll links as Google gave a couple of myblogs a PR0 and the only reason I could see for them having done so was the blogroll links.
A week or so after I added the plugin to those blog the PR came back, so I guess it did the trick!
Here’s the link for the “No Follow” plugin: -

2. All-In-One SEO Pack
All-In-One SEO Pack Plugin
This is a must have plugin as far as Search Engine Optimization for your blog goes, as it takes care of most of the SEO stuff you ned for your blog.
3. Auto Social Poster [Not Free]
Auto Social Poster Plugin
this plugin is not free, but is very useful as it will Bookmark your blog posts to a wide range of social bookmarking sites automatically, with randomization built in to reduce footprints and make sure your SB accounts don’t get flagged.
4. Brian’s Threaded Comments
Brians Threaded Comments Plugin
This alows you to reply to individual comments in the post comments section, keeping the comments easier to read and follow.
5. Google Sitemaps
Google Sitemaps Plugin
This generator will create a Google compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog. I’ve no idea if this is the best Google Sitemaps plugin, it just happens to be the one I use, the important bit is that you do use one.
6. MaxBlogPress Ping Optimizer
Ping Optimizer Plugin
A real useful plugin to make sure you’re only pinging valid ping addresses and not pinging too often.
7. Permalink Migration
Permalink Migration Plugin
With this plugin, you can safely change your permalink structure without breaking the old links to your website, and even doesn’t hurt your google pagerank. This is VERY USEFUL if you have started a blog with the default permalink struture and want to change it to the best permlink structure for SEO purposes - see previous post here - seo friendly wp permalink structure
8. Post Teaser
Post Teaser Plugin
Post Teaser generates a preview or “teaser” of posts, with a link underneath to go to the full post page. You decide how long the “teaser” is.
9. Subscribe to Comments
Subscribe to Comments Plugin
Simple plugin that allows people to subscribe when they make a comment on a post, so that they then receive an email whenever someone else places a follow up comment on the same post. Obviously this is a fantastic way to get people to come back to your blog when someone comments on a post that they’ve decided to “follow”.
10. Unique Articles Wizard
Unique Articles Wizard Plugin
Get unique articles posted directly to your blog, with full control over categories.
This plugin is free, you don’t need to be a full member of UAW to use it, check out my previous post and video to see how to find it -

11. What Would Seth Godin Do
What Would Seth Godin Do Plugin
Displays a custom welcome message to new visitors to encourage them to sign up as an RSS subscriber.
12. WordPress Database Backup
WordPress Database Backup Plugin
On-demand backup of your WordPress database, By Scott Merrill.
This may not be the best WP backup plugin, it’s simply the one I’ve been using for ages. I believe there is another one that will do backups automatically and email them to you, which sounds more useful…
Most of these plugins are pretty simple to configure, but I’ll be making some videos covering them in more detail as soon asI catch up on my current backlog of video work.

Thanks Matt I love plugins! I’m interested in your recommendation of the All In One SEO pack…have you tried out the Headspace plugin and found All In one better?
I must check out your video on Unique Article Wizard again or else blog more frequently!
Alex
Hi Alex,
nope, I’ve not tried the Headspace plugin, what does it do?
The All in one SEO plugin does a whole bunch of stuff, including making certain folders no follow so that you don’t end up with duplicate content, which the standard WP structure will cause…
cheers,
Matt Garrett
I use Headspace on my blogs, and find it to be the best, and easiest to use, SEO solution. It’s by far one of my favorite plug-ins.
Hi Rep,
what’s the url for the headspace plugin so I can take a look and compare it to the all in one seo plugin?
thanks,
Matt

Hi Matt,
Is there a plug in available, to make the URLs in the Text widget, Live?
Also which are the plug ins to use for customizing the fonts in the widgets?
Thank you.
Rangarajan
Hi Rangarajan,
just use html code in text widgets to make the links live,
and the fonts can be changed the same way, although it will depend on the theme, many themes will have a css style file which will set the fonts..
cheers,
Matt

Matt, have you come across a plugin to autopost Yahoo Answers on your travels? I’ve dabbled with WordPressDirect.com (introduced by the 30 Day Challenge) but don’t want to continue with it.
If not, I reckon it could be worth getting one produced……
Hi Lyn,
