« BlogCarnival Blog Links Moving Your Blog »
I’ve not been posting much over the last week or so, but it’s not because I’ve been lazy, just a little busy..
One of the things that I’ve been working on is a new free Plugin for you, althogh I won’t claim to have coded it myself, I outsourced the work as usual.
I made a post a couple of weeks ago about dealing with a Google PR0 penalty to your blog for “allegedly” selling text links, which is something I’ve never done on this site, but Google seem to believe I have, as they’ve recently made PR for this blog a big fat Zero.
I believe the penalty is based on having a long list of “recommended resource” links in my blogroll, none of which include the Rel=”nofollow” tag, as it’s not a default option offered by WordPress, so Pagerank is being passed to those sites listed, which some bright spark at Google has obviously assumed that I’m getting paid for.
The previous post included a video showing how to add a “nofollow” option to blogroll links by editing the wordpress files themselves, but I decided this is probably not something most bloggers will want to do, for fear of breaking something, and for me it’s simply too fiddly and time consuming to want to do on all my blogs, as I’ve got quite a few.
The solution was to get a plugin written that will do the same thing and I’m happy to say it’s finished, it works and it’s a piece of cake to use.
You can download it on the Blogtactics Plugins Page
or to save you the extra click, here’s a direct link to the zip file:
Blogtactics nofollow blogroll links plugin
and just to make it easier, here’s a quick video showing you how to use it once you’ve activated it..
If you’re not sure how to add a new plugin to your blog then watch the previous video tutorial I posted on how to upload and activate a WordPress Plugin
I also did a post a while back with a couple of videos to show how to upload files either using some free ftp software (along with where to get the software) or how to use cPanel File Manager to upload files to your blog:

Thanks, very useful. I think Google is quite crazy with my blog: My long-time PageRank was 3, some day it goes to 5 (I don’t know why) and now is 0. I never sell or buy links and use the old way promotion adding my page to directories like DMOZ.
I hope this plugin could fix helps me to avoid Google penality
I’m glad to see more and more people involved in dofollow movement !

[...] Nofollow Blog Link Plugin [...]
is it make wordpress default system as nofollow??
The “no Follow” plugin simply allows you to add the “no follow” tag to blogroll links, as shown in the video, please watch it…

Great and still seems to work in 2.8.4 – thank you.
Hi Matt,
Nice plugin! I was wondering as I am new to IM if this plugin is handy to use for when using the link feature in the current version of WP or any for that matter you/I want to list other pages on my site for the deep linking and link juice it can provide to have links to other pages on my site? Or should I/can I use the plugin to just add nofollow to my clickbank or any other affiliate links on my site?
Thank You Very Much for the plugin!
Max
Hi Max,
the nofollow plugin is simply to allow you to make blogroll links “nofollow”.
If you want to maximize the flow of “link juice” through your site I recommend installing the “All in one SEO” plugin that’s listed on the plugins page.
cheers,
Matt
Hey, I found your blog after searching for a plugin to do the nofollow thingy in the blogroll. thanks for sharing it with the public. I am going to use this on a brand new domain I just bought. There will be absolutely no following going on in this new project. heheh.
